What will VI Technologies do to help me?

There is alot to think about when purchasing a PC. We can think of a strategy together, that is best for you and your situation.

We can think about these things together:
  1. What will I use this for?
  2. May my requirements change, so I might need to upgrade?
  3. Could I use a second hand PC to save some money?
  4. What is my ratio of Effort/Time/Money that I wish to put into this purchase?
Eg. Some people would prefer to spend a little extra to get things right, with a new PC with onsite warranty, as offered by Dell for example, it's hard to go wrong.

Other's are a bit handy with PC's and would prefer to spend less money for a more powerful PC by purchasing something off eBay understanding that if something happens, they'll need to source their own parts... or have someone like VI Technologies do this for you.

There is no hard and fast rule, it's up to you.

VI Technologies will simply help you make an informed decision!

Which PC? Is there a difference?

Yes. There is a difference.

As with cars, it's not just a case of a computer is a computer. There are your Godzillor GTR type computers. Fast and overwhelmingly powerful... and there are some Excel type computers. Economical and great for a tight budget... and then there are lots in between.

Most people don't need the biggest and the best, so no need to pay for it.

So which one is for me?

You need to think about what you are going to use the PC for. You'll most likely fall into one of these categories.

Grand Parents PC

Great news. You can almost always palm off your old PC to them. The system requirements to browse the internet and send emails are very low. This means pretty much any computer you can get your hands on that is less than 10 years old can perform these duties.

This means second hand computers could well be the way to go. An upgraded LCD to be easy on the eyes would be nice though.

Family PC

A relatively new, but not overly powerful PC can cope with the requirements for your average family PC. You'll want a CD burner for the kids and backups of photo's. Word processing for assignments. Internet access and emails.

All of these things are easily within the reach of most computers less than 5 years old, so second hand is still a possibility, if you are smart about it.

Home Office

Great news! These days most computers you can buy, even the cheapest have great power. This means it isn't hard to buy a computer that will be more than capable of performing its office duties.

Some extra's that may interest you for this computer would be some backup devices. Constant backup's are going to ensure you have no down time due to a nasty virus or unlikely hardware failure.

Gamer

Sorry Mum and Dad, this is indeed the most expensive PC of all. Games being generally the most system exhausting application you can possibly run, there is no end to the money that can be spent getting the PC up to speed.

Sorry kids, this DOES NOT mean you need the latest and greatest. There are still budget options.

Depending what games we are talking, as the newer games will need the newer computers, you may be able to get away with a second hand top end PC.

Generally the most important part of this PC is a very expensive graphics card. Top of the line graphics cards cost as much as the rest of the computer put together or more. Again, this is not totally necessary and there are some clever ways to get the power you need without mortgaging the house.
